HR SEMINAR INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT: WHAT MAKES EMPLOYEES STICK AROUND WITH AN EMPLOYER?

According to the latest report from TINYpulse, a series of numbers threatening talent retention goals are announced:

  • 84% of employees feel challenged at work daily while still lacking opportunities to grow.
  • 54% unclear about their promotion and career path.
  • 44% don’t feel they have sufficient opportunities for professional growth.
  • Only 29% believe they have a strong culture.
  • Decreasing Employee loyalty: 43% would leave for just 10% salary increase.

This is a big challenge for Vietnamese human resource managers, especially in the period when the employee loyalty has decreased significantly.

In order to accompany Vietnamese human resource managers to overcome these challenges, PACE Institute of Management and SHRM Vietnam organized an International Human Resource Management seminar on January 10, 2020 in Hanoi which themed "Retaining employees effectively". The event was attended by many experts in the field of Human Resources from many businesses and different fields.

The seminar took place with Mr. Dinh Viet Lan - Solution Specialist of PACE Institute of Management, he is one of the first Vietnamese who received the SHRM Certificate and was also trained by SHRM to become an official lecturer of the SHRM Certification Training Program in Vietnam.

At the seminar, in addition to analyzing an important survey of Deloitte's global human capital trend, Mr. Dinh Viet Lan also pointed out the trends in Vietnam's labor market that make “People Leaving” more and more serious:

  • Working in different industries is no longer a major barrier (Top 5 industries attract talents from other industries: Hospitality, Banking, Real Estate, Wholesale-Retail-Commercial, Financial Services).
  • New enterprises, including foreign-invested ones, increase highly and hunt for talents (> 80,000 newly-registered enterprises in the first half of 2019).
  • Start Up: 32% of Viet Nam Best Places To Work’s survey respondents shared the desire to start a business.
  • Migration causes “brain drain” (VN in Top 10 Emigration countries in Asia-Pacific).

In addition, Mr. Dinh Viet Lan also emphasized the key factors that make employees leave or stay:

  • Income and Career plans: When tired of current job, employees attracted by offers with better income & career opportunities.
  • Employer brand: 70% leaving employees have negative assessment of Employer brand.
  • Work-life imbalance: When reaching Burn-out threshold, everything becomes “fragile”.

Since then, Mr. Dinh Viet Lan also clarified the important role of IHRM program - a training program exclusively for HR professionals implemented by PACE Institute of Management and SHRM Vietnam with information about the world-class SHRM-CP / SCP certificate for those who are active in Human Resources worldwide.

IHRM program will continue to be opened on March 19, 2020 in Ho Chi Minh City and March 26, 2020 in Hanoi. Please see more details about the program and register here.
